FG RESPONSE ON COVID 19: FGN uplifts Nationwide Transportation Ban, Intends for 'Graduate Students' to resume
The chairman of the presidential task force on COVID-19 and the secretary of
the federation 's administration, Boss Mustapha, made the announcement during a Monday press conference.
Mustapha said the government has extended
Phase Two's eased lockdown by 4 weeks
He said there will also be a safe reopening of schools to carry graduating students
back to college within this extended time, while interstate movements would only occur during curfew hours.
He said, "I am pleased to inform you that Mr. President has carefully considered the PTF 's Fifth
Interim Report and has therefore accepted that, with the exception of certain amendments which will be expatiated later, Phase Two of a smooth lockout shall be extended by another four
weeks from Tuesday 30 June 2020 to Monday 27 July 2020 at midnight.
Maintaining for a further four weeks the current phase of the national response in compliance with the amendments to e'Specifically, however, the following measures either remain in place or
come into force: xpatriated by the National Coordinator; permission to travel across national borders only during curfew hours with effect from 1 July 2020; regulation of non-pharmaceutical intestines rules.
"The PTF continued to track developments during the month under review
and repeatedly admonished Nigerians to change their actions in the light of The fact that the virus spreading
has invaded the step of the Population.
It is the PTF's considered opinion that Nigerians, though conscious of the virus'
nature, generally underestimated the aims behind government rationale in slowly easing the restrictions.
"As we all know, the PTF has placed in place a series of measures in coordination with sub-national bodies, the co-ordinated private sector. The PTF has stepped up
its risk communication activities with Nigerians, but we have noted with that regard the non-compliance with these measures aimed at preventing transmission and protecting vulnerable segments of the population.
In Nigeria, reports of the return of viruses from other jurisdictions, including China, the United States of America, Brazil
and across Europe, will surface and we run the risk of erasing the progress made over the last 3 months.
